Joy in the Junk
The podcast where we bring our whole selves to the table —
mess and all —
and find Jesus right in the middle of it.
We’re two women seeking truth in Scripture, hope in the hard places, and joy that
doesn’t wash away when life gets muddy.
So pull up a chair, grab your coffee (or sweet tea!), and let’s talk life, faith,
and all the junk in between — because with Jesus?
There’s joy that lasts.

What are the Scriptures you cling to when life feels unsteady, overwhelming, or completely out of your control?
In this episode of Joy in the Junk, we begin a special series called Joy on Our Minds, where we share the Bible verses that have anchored our faith, shaped our walk with God, and carried us through seasons of suffering, surrender, and unexpected joy. This week, Blair opens up about her favorite Scriptures and the powerful stories behind them—verses that met her in prison, in grief, in leadership, and in moments when trusting God felt hard.
From Psalm 40 to Zephaniah 3:17, Habakkuk 3, James 1, and beyond, we talk about what it looks like to wait on the Lord, to be lifted out of the pit, to surrender control, and to rejoice even when circumstances don’t change. This conversation explores how God uses Scripture to prepare us before trials come, how conviction and grace work together, and how living out your faith—especially in moments of failure—can point others straight to Jesus.
You’ll hear honest reflections on:
Scriptures that sustain us during suffering and uncertainty
What true surrender to God actually looks like in daily life
Why perfection isn’t the goal—faithfulness is
How God quiets us with His love when the noise is loud
Extending grace when we fall short—and when others do
Finding joy, peace, and stability through God’s Word
This episode is for anyone who needs to be reminded that God’s Word is alive, personal, and powerful—and that the verses you cling to today may be the very ones that carry you tomorrow.
Because joy doesn’t come from having it all together… it comes from standing on the Rock.
Open your Bible. Open your heart. Let joy stay on your mind.

Everybody’s got advice — and most of it comes loud, confident, uninvited… and wrapped in a bow of “I’m just trying to help.” 😅But not all advice is wise, and not all wisdom is God-breathed.
In this episode of Joy in the Junk, we’re talking about “Junk in the Advice” — the mental clutter that piles up when we listen to too many voices and not enough of God’s.
Solomon reminds us that wisdom doesn’t start with people’s opinions — it starts with fearing the Lord. And when we confuse noise with wisdom, we often end up overwhelmed, second-guessing decisions God already settled in our spirit.
We unpack:
Why bad advice often sounds good in the moment
How “well-meaning” opinions can still lead us off course
The difference between advice that comforts us and wisdom that actually transforms us
Why godly counsel brings peace — even when it stretches us
How too many podcasts, posts, and opinions can wear us slap out
Using Solomon’s wisdom from Ecclesiastes, we talk honestly about:
Why wise counsel doesn’t always feel good
How emotional, urgent advice can stir up frustration instead of faith
The danger of rushing decisions without prayer
And how information overload can keep us from hearing God clearly
If you’ve ever:
Followed advice that felt right but left you restless
Let other people’s opinions drown out God’s voice
Felt stuck between “what everyone says” and “what God said”
This episode is for you.
We’ll also give you practical, biblical filters to help you discern what advice to keep — and what mental junk needs to be tossed — so wisdom has room to breathe again.
Because sometimes the wisest thing you can do…is stop listening to everybody else and get quiet enough to hear God.
✨ Scriptures referenced: Ecclesiastes 7, Ecclesiastes 5, Ecclesiastes 12, Ecclesiastes 3✨ Topics: Christian wisdom, discernment, godly counsel, decision-making, mental clutter, biblical encouragement
Pull up a chair, friend — Solomon’s got something to say, and it still applies.
